New Zealand – SkyCity Entertainment able to drop COVID restrictions in Auckland, Hamilton and QueenstownBy Phil - 6 October 2020
SkyCity Entertainment’s casino in Auckland will be able to return to normal operations this week, joining venues in Hamilton and Queenstown where social distancing and the wearing of masks are no longer needed.
The operator said: “The SkyCity Auckland property will be able to operate without restrictions on mass gatherings and physical distancing requirements from October 8 following the New Zealand Government’s announcement that Auckland will move from Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 1 of the COVID-19 Alert System. SkyCity’s Hamilton and Queenstown properties have been operating at Alert Level 1 since September 22.”
The Auckland venue had shut down for a second time in mid-August amid fears of a second wave in New Zealand’s largest city, but with no new cases for ten days the wave is thought to have been thwarted.
