Philippines – Tiger Resorts brands Philippines’ project as Okada Manila

By - 20 July 2016

Japanese gaming giant Kazuo Okada is raising investment in his Philippines’ casino resort from $2.4bn to $4bn with a rebranding of the project to Okada Manila utilising his name.

The plan is to hold a soft opening in November.

Okada Manila will boast a casino floor with 500 gaming tables and over 3,000 slot machines, making it the largest integrated resort to open doors in the Philippines.

Phase 1 of the project will have a Y-shaped, 15 floor hotel with a gold exterior and two wings called the Pearl and the Coral.

Steve Wolstenholme, President of Okada Manila developer Tiger Resort Leisure & Entertainment Inc, said: “We will be opening before the end of the year. Okada Manila has the potential to compete with the entertainment and gaming giants from across the region with its best natural resources—its hospitality and warmth. Here, expect an effortless integration of the Japanese omotenashi—people’s respectful demeanor, passion for creativity and hunger for innovation—and the Filipinos’ hard work, hospitality and cheerful spirit, in terms of quality service.”

Tiger Resort COO Takahiro Usui added that the new design aims to see the complex competing with the biggest casinos in Macau.

Antonio Cojuangco, Okada’s local partner and a board member at Tiger Resorts, said the casino resort would be ‘the best not only in the Philippines but also in the region.’
