The Bancao Popolare di Milano (BPM) former president, Massimo Ponzellini, is currently under investigation and house arrest in Italy in relation to €2.5bn in deteriorated loans made during his term of office.
The investigation goes back several years and includes intercepted phone conversations, the seizure of computer records and individual testimonies.
