The Netherlands – KSA warns sports betting company over tweeting during matches
By Phil - 28 February 2022
The Dutch Gaming Authority (Ksa) has urged a licensee for offering online sports betting to stop advertising on Twitter during football matches.
The provider in question tweeted during football matches about, among other things, the score. Those reports were accompanied by odds. Clicking on such odds led to the licensee’s website where the bet could be made.
The KSA said: “During sports competitions, bets on those matches may not be advertised. This is intended to protect consumers from impulsive participation. The Ksa has addressed the licensee about the violation, ordered him to stop it immediately and to prevent recurrence. The licensee complied with this. The Ksa will continue to monitor whether the law is not violated again and will then not hesitate to use heavier means.”
