The Netherlands – Two new casinos help grow Holland Casino’s revenues

With two new casinos opening in Amsterdam and Groningen, Dutch casino operator Holland Casino has recorded an increase in GGR to €656.5m, marking an increase of 2.7 per cent.

Spend per head per visit was up on every gaming floor with the average coming in at up from €114, compared €109 the year before. Attendance fell from 5.8m to 5.7m during the year.

Revenue from table games increased by 3.9 per cent to €265.8m in 2018 with GGR from slots up 2.3 per cent to €340m.

Holland Casino’s CEO Erwin van Lambaart said: “Despite a long and unprecedented hot summer, we managed to achieve a solid financial result of greater gross profit than in 2017. In a competitive market we managed to stabilise our share and take important measures for the renewal of our company. 2018 is the year in which the ambitions of Holland Casino were literally put to good use for all to see, especially in the last quarter. With the implementation of our HC2020 strategy, which will help us become the best casino company in Europe, we are on the right track. We are preparing our digital proposal, so we will be ready once the new online market opens.”

The operator also highlighted income of €11.4m from an insurance claim following the fire at its Groningen casino in 2017.
