The Star Gold Coast CEO resigns after just six months in the role

Another top level executive has distanced itself from under-fire Australian operator Star Entertainment with Jessica Mellor, Chief Executive Officer of The Star Gold Coast, stepping down from her role as the second inquiry into Star’s suitability to hold a licence completed its first week.
Her departure, after just six months, follows earlier resignations from Managing Director and CEO Robbie Cooke.
The Star Entertainment Group confirmed Jessica Mellor, Chief Executive Officer of The Star Gold Coast has tendered her resignation to the Board of The Star effective from May 24 2024.
Ian Brown, General Manager Gaming at The Star Gold Coast will take on additional duties as acting CEO at The Star Gold Coast “Subject to Regulatory Approval” and Jessica has agreed to provide support to The Star until September 2024 to assist in a seamless transition and a number of important initiatives.
Jessica Mellor was The Star Gold Coast’s youngest and first female CEO, appointed to the position in October 2023, having led the property in the role of COO since 2019. During her term as COO and CEO of The Gold Coast, Jessica was instrumental in developing The Star Gold Coast as an iconic Gold Coast tourism and entertainment precinct, including the development of the $2 billion masterplan part of a joint
venture consortium.
Executive Chair, David Foster thanked Jessica Mellor for her dedication as CEO of The Star Gold Coast: “Jessica has led The Star Gold Coast through some challenging times including through COVID and has been instrumental in developing the Gold Coast property into an iconic world class integrated destination resort with our joint venture partners. Jessica has decided the time is right to move on and she leaves with both the Board’s and my personal thanks, for her tireless efforts as CEO of The Star Gold Coast.”
A search for a new CEO of The Star Gold Coast has commenced.
