UAE – Wynn close to completing hotel towers on Al Marjan Island

By - 13 February 2024

Wynn Resorts is close to completing the first phase of construction of the hotel towers underpinning its Wynn Al Marjan Island casino resort in the United Arab Emirates.

The plan is to open the casino in the first quarter of 2027. Wynn Resorts is a 40 per cent equity investor in the project, with local companies owning the rest.

Speaking at the company’s earnings conference call, CEO Craig Billings said: “Construction continues on the project with much of the hotel tower and podium foundation now complete, and we are nearly ready to start going vertical on the hotel tower. The property is really going to be a stunner, and it’s great to see the buildings start to take shape. It’s going to be a very substantial opportunity for us.”

The 5.6m square-foot casino resort is located on Al Marjan Island which is reclaimed land in Ras Al Khaimah. It features a hotel with 1,500 rooms, events center, gaming areas, and a theater. Only about four per cent of the resort is planned to be dedicated to gaming.

In terms of other new market opportunities, Mr Billings added: “We’re in pursuit as I think everyone knows, in New York, we have a project that’s actually coming out of the ground in the UAE, and that’s  There’s some additional states that are moving, albeit at a relatively slow pace that might prove to be opportunities for us. We obviously don’t do every possible, potential jurisdiction. We’re very selective. And then there are certain international jurisdictions like Thailand, for example, that are also in the process of considering gaming.”
