UK – Celebrities are helping Mecca to break Guinness World Records

By - 11 November 2021

Mecca Bingo is calling on customers and bingo lovers across the country to help attempt break an official Guinness World Records title by recording over 5,000 video birthday messages.

To celebrate its 60th birthday this year, Mecca is attempting to break a new record title by creating the largest online video album of happy birthday messages, from customers, staff and bingo lovers.

Celebrities and Mecca Bingo lovers Duncan James, Anthony Costa, Sandi Bogle, Robin Windsor, Jess Impiazzi and Susan Hill have already been taking part, submitting their personal birthday wishes and showing their love for the UK’s original bingo brand.

To get involved, customers are being asked to record a personalised video, wishing Mecca Bingo a very happy birthday. They can either do this from the comfort of their own home, or in front of dedicated backdrops in their local club from 4th November. The video needs to be at least 5 seconds long and must include both audio and video content*. Customers will then be asked to upload their video on the official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS website at https://www.meccabingo.com/gwr.

Sam Fay, Head of Strategy at Mecca Bingo, said: “Turning 60 is a huge milestone for us at Mecca so we wanted to celebrate it with something big and what better than breaking a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title? Our customers mean everything to us, so working with them on this attempt is really special. We can’t wait for them all to get involved.”

Marco Frigatti, Senior Vice President, Consultancy at Guinness World Records said: “We’re very excited to be working with Mecca Bingo on what promises to be a very exciting anniversary celebration. Securing a Guinness World Records title is no easy feat and we wish the participants and employees at Mecca Bingo the best of luck with their attempt. Our adjudicators look forward to seeing the celebratory videos and hope that they will be crowning Mecca Bingo as record-holders of the ‘Largest online album of birthday wishes/greetings’.”

On Saturday 13th November, Mecca Bingo will announce the final number of videos recorded at its birthday events across its clubs nationwide, as well as on Mecca’s exclusive channel, Mecca TV. Customers will get a chance to visit their favourite club, play bingo, record any last-minute birthday messages and celebrate the nation’s most loved bingo brand throughout the night.
