UK – Rumours emerge that Genting will close all of its poker rooms in the UK

Genting Casinos UK has reportedly taken the decision to stop operating poker at all of its 42 casinos in the UK.
Although waiting for offcial confirmation, a Senior Manager at Genting has reportedly confirmed the strategy to PokerNews. Genting Resorts World Casino in Birmingham is facing 98 job losses with the rest of the Genting casinos in the UK making 20 to 50 employees redundant at each venue.
Genting UK President Paul Willcock said: “The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has created unprecedented challenges. It had an enormous financial impact on our business and caused considerable uncertainty in the foreseeable future. I am therefore forced to think about some very difficult options to ensure survival.”
