UK – Talarius tests innovative self-exclusion software from SmartALERT

By - 10 August 2015

Talarius, the UK’s largest operator of Adult Gaming Centres (AGCs), will be the first Adult Gaming Centre to trial SmartEXCLUSION, a customer self-exclusion solution that enables multiple branches to be alerted quickly when someone self-excludes.

The technology will be installed in five of Talarius’ Quicksilver venues in the North East for an ongoing period to test its effectiveness in reducing instances of problem gambling.

The tablet-based solution removes the need for a paper trail and increases operators’ ability to protect their customers. Talarius’ staff will be able to digitally record the details of any customer wishing to exclude themselves and remotely upload an image to a central server. The customer is then provided with multiple exclusion options including location, operators and length of time and the information is shared across all relevant venues.

If the terms of an exclusion are breached, a notification is sent to head office along with all stores that the customer is excluded from. The customer is also notified and reminded of the terms and conditions of their self-exclusion, and offered support through links to the self-assessment Gamcare page or information about their local Gamblers Anonymous meeting.

Commenting, Talarius’ Chief Operating Office Peter Harvey said: “Once again we taking the lead in our sector and finding new ways to tackle problem gambling. Our trial with SmartALERT shows how innovation and technology can help with the issue. Though instances in AGCs are rare, it is important that we have the most effective systems in place to deal with them if they do occur and ensure that customers are enjoying our venues as safely as possible. We look forward to seeing the results of this trial and hope that this new system will be transformational for our business.”

Martin Fox, Co-Founder and CEO of SmartALERT said: “This new trial with Talarius comes weeks after another successful trial within the Licenced Betting Office (LBOs) sector and enables us to again demonstrate the power of SmartEXCLUSION, the UK’s first multi-platform and multi-sector self-exclusion solution. SmartEXCLUSION is the first of a suite of applications that provides valuable support for the gambling sector and provides effective player protection when a customer decides to self-exclude.”
He continued: “SmartALERT have invested heavily in the development of core technologies that enables us to produce solutions like SmartEXCLUSION. This investment and the partnerships we have developed with organisations like Talarius enables us to provide cost effective, customised solutions to many common business issues and deliver these solutions over mobile, desktop or the web.”
