UK’s National Lottery helps boost Alwyn’s revenues by 98 per cent year-on-year

By - 27 March 2024

2023 was another year of record financial performance for Alwyn Entertainment, reflecting good results across all geographies,as well as the contribution from the acquisitions of Camelot UK and Allwyn LS Group in the first quarter of the year.

The inclusion of the UK’s National Lottery saw revenue increase by 98 per cent year-on-year in 2023, to €7,878.1m, primarily driven by the contribution of the Camelot Acquisitions. Excluding the effect of these acquisitions, revenue still increased six per cent year-on-year, reflecting good performance across all Alwyn’s existing markets, driven by strong growth in the Czech Republic and Greece and Cyprus. This strong organic growth was driven by the online channel, with physical retail remaining resilient. All product lines saw GGR growth year-on-year, despite unusually unfavourable EuroMillions jackpot cycles impacting the development of Numerical Lotteries (draw-based games) and industry-wide customer-friendly sports betting results in Q3. In 2023, there were only 14 draws for EuroMillions with a jackpot above €100m, compared with 33 such draws in 2022.

Robert Chvatal, Allwyn CEO, said: “I am pleased to report that 2023 was another year of strong financial and operational performance and strategic progress. We continued to execute our growth strategies successfully, while maintaining our relentless focus on safer play and accountability to all our stakeholders. This robust performance was underpinned by further progress in digital, which continues to grow as a share of GGR. We sustained momentum in product development and innovation, with a highlight of the year being new launches in the exciting annuity category in Austria, the Czech Republic, and Greece and Cyprus. I am excited about what the future holds for Allwyn as we continue to focus
on driving both organic and inorganic growth, and believe we are well placed for the next chapters
of our growth story.”
