US – Century Casinos approved for sports betting licenses in Colorado

By - 6 April 2020

Century Casinos’ Colorado subsidiaries has received approval for three Sports Betting Master Licenses. The licenses were awarded during a special meeting of the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission held on April 2 2020. In addition, the Commission awarded Circa Sports Colorado, the company’s partner for one of its Master Licenses, with a temporary Internet Sports Betting Operator License.

The Commission is moving forward with licensing and will meet the May 1 2020 legislative launch date deadline. Due to impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the sports betting industry, the Company is uncertain of the timeline that the Circa/Sports mobile sports betting app will launch.

The company has two more Master Licenses available in Colorado and is in active negotiations with several potential sports betting partners.

It joins seven other companies on the approval list in Colorado. Colorado Grande Hotel & Casino and Johnny Nolon’s Casino, both in Cripple Creek, also received sports betting licenses on April 2 from the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission.

It had previously issued licenses to Bronco Billy’s, Double Eagle Hotel & Casino and Triple Crown Casinos, which owns the Brass Ass, McGills and Midnight Rose casinos. It will consider a sports wagering license for Wildwood Casino, the remaining Cripple Creek gambling hall without one, on April 16.

Colorado voters approved a referendum in November allowing sports wagering with legal bets starting May 1, although most professional, college and Olympic sports on which wagering would be allowed remain on indefinite hold.
