US – Golden Nugget Danville Casino hosts grand opening ceremony

Golden Nugget Danville Casino has hosted its grand opening with city officials, state representatives, and casino executives gathered holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony under the Golden Nugget.
The casino features a 41,500 square foot gaming floor with 500 slot machines, 14 table games, two restaurants, including a Saltgrass Steakhouse, a sportsbook, and 650 surface parking spaces. It also offers digital sports betting platform through Golden Nugget Online Gaming, which is controlled by Tilman Fertitta through his and Golden Nugget’s combined ownership stake and Mr. Fertitta’s role as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors. It has been open under a soft phase two months ago.
The developer and owner, Wilmorite Construction and Fertitta Entertainment commissioned F.A. Wilhelm Construction (Indianapolis, Indiana) and KDG architectural firm (St. Louis, MI) to design and build the new Golden Nugget casino in Danville, Illinois. This project has generated 300 construction jobs over the last 11 months.
Jimmy Wilmot, President of Danville Development, said: “Today is exciting, we are running our first promos, so floor wide you can win. You don’t have to just win a jackpot. You can win other prizes. We didn’t have legal ability to do that until today. So, it’s a big step for this casino.”
Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr, said: “This is a big day for the City of Danville! This casino is 30 years in the making and I’m proud to have this project come to fruition on my watch. It is something that has been talked about for many years and I am thrilled that I am able to be part of this pivotal moment in our city’s history.”
