Nevada casinos finished 2019 with another $1bn month of GGR in December, taking its full-year total to the third-highest on record.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) figures showed state-wide GGR of $1.057bn in December, a 5.8 per cent over December 2018’s figures with casinos on the Las Vegas Strip posting a 4.5 per cent increase to $591.8m.
December’s total saw 2019’s revenue reach $12.03bn, the third-highest annual total in the state’s history and the fifth consecutive year of year-on-year improvements with the highest ever being $12.8bn in 2007.

Nevada’s slot machines drove the increase with a jump in revenue of 10.1 per cent in December to $700.1m. 2019 saw slots increase by a more modest 2.9 per cent to $7.93bn. Tables fell by 1.7 per cent in December to $357.4m, with 2019’s total down 2.5 per cent to $4.1bn.
The main reason was a drop in baccarat, which fell by 25 per cent in December to $76.1m and by 13 per cent to $1.05bn for the year as a whole.
Nevada’s sportsbooks posted a record $329.1m in revenues during 2019, an increase of 9.5 per cent with a record handle of $5.319bn during 2019, a 6.2 per cent increase from $5.01bn in 2018.
