US – New Hampshire Lottery breaks all-time sales record

The New Hampshire Lottery broke its all-time sales record in Fiscal Year 2023, surpassing $603m in total sales, marking a 12 per cent or $66.5m increase from its record high of $536.5m set the previous year.
As a direct result of these record-breaking numbers, the New Hampshire Lottery generated an all-time high of $187m in support of New Hampshire public education, reflecting a 27 per cent or $40m increase from the previous record high of $146.6m. Since its inception in 1964, the New Hampshire Lottery has contributed more than $2.64bn to public education, supporting students, teachers and schools across the state.
“With over $603m in lottery sales, children across New Hampshire hit the jackpot with $187 million in profits returned to support public education just this year,” said Governor Chris Sununu. “With no income tax taken from winnings when you buy in New Hampshire and millions in support of public education, playing the lottery is a win-win.”

The New Hampshire Lottery is one of the fastest growing lotteries in the United States. Over the past five years, New Hampshire Lottery sales have increased by 55 per cent, an increase of $213.2m over that time period.
Nearly all New Hampshire Lottery games ran ahead of last year’s sales pace. Boosted by dueling Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots and a record-breaking Powerball jackpot that reached nearly $2 billion in November. Mega Millions sales were up nearly 104 per cent, while Powerball sales were up 19% year-over-year.
With DraftKings serving as the exclusive provider for sports betting in New Hampshire, sports betting continues to gain momentum, as total sports wagering in Fiscal Year 2023 surpassed $883m. In Fiscal Year 2023, players wagered more than $709m through the DraftKings online sportsbook and nearly $174m at New Hampshire’s retail sportsbooks. Sports betting generated $35.6 million in revenue in support of New Hampshire education.
In addition to the funding generated directly from Lottery games during Fiscal Year 2023, the New Hampshire Lottery and New Hampshire’s 14 charitable gaming establishments generated an additional $23.3m in revenue in support of local charities and nonprofits, and $18.2m for New Hampshire’s public school system. Charitable gaming in New Hampshire includes Games of Chance, Historic Horse Racing, Bingo and Lucky 7.
