US – Resorts World Las Vegas given green light to open on June 24

By - 24 May 2021

Genting Malaysia has been granted regulatory approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission to open the $4.3bn Resorts World Las Vegas on June 24 becoming the first new resort to open in more than a decade on the Las Vegas Strip.

Commission Chairman John Moran Jr. said: “We look forward to seeing it open and running,” the Associated Press reports.

Scott Sibella, President of Resorts World Las Vegas, added: “We want to be the most sophisticated, state-of-art casino in the world with the best air quality money can buy.”

Indeed the company was recently given a GBAC STAR rating. As the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response and recovery accreditation, GBAC STAR helps organisations establish protocols and procedures, offers expert-led training and assesses a facility’s readiness for biorisk situations. The program verifies that Resorts World Las Vegas will implement best practices to prepare for, respond to and recover from outbreaks and pandemics.

“As we prepare for our opening this June, our commitment to the health and safety of our guests and team members is, and will continue to be, our highest priority,” said Mr. Sibella. “This accreditation further proves our dedication to providing a clean and safe resort experience for our future patrons.”

“GBAC STAR accreditation empowers facility owners and managers to assure workers, customers and key stakeholders that they have proven systems in place to maintain clean and healthy environments,” said GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger. “By taking this important step to pursue GBAC STAR, Resorts World Las Vegas has received third-party validation that it follows strict protocols for biorisk situations, thereby demonstrating its preparedness and commitment to operating safely.”

Situated at the north end of the Las Vegas Strip, Resorts World Las Vegas is ideally located across from the 1.4 million-square-foot Las Vegas Convention Center Expansion, as well as the two million-square foot, 250-store Fashion Show Mall. The red-colored, curved 59-story Resorts World will have three Hilton-branded hotels. Fusing Hilton’s decades of global industry expertise with Resorts World’s time-honored traditions and elevated service, Resorts World Las Vegas will integrate three of Hilton’s premium brands into its resort campus. The development will include Las Vegas Hilton, the resort’s full-service brand; Conrad Las Vegas, Hilton’s contemporary luxury brand; and Crockfords Las Vegas, one of the first hotels to debut in the US from LXR, Hilton’s collection of bespoke, independent luxury properties.

The next-generation 117,000-square-foot casino will launch complete with a 17,000-square-foot Entertainment Zone, which includes a race and sports book, featured live entertainment and high-limit gaming areas. A 5,000-capacity state-of-the-art theatre will be scalable to host A-list residencies and corporate events.

the outside of the building will boast a 100,000-square-foot West Tower LED screen (one of the largest LED building displays in the world). A 19,000-square-foot East Tower LED screen and 50-foot diameter video globe will display over 6,000 square feet of captivating LED content.

The property will open dozens of retail shops and stores, more than 40 restaurants and lounges including a “street eat” area, multiple spas, and swimming pools, and 300,000 square feet (27,871 square meters) of second-floor meeting and banquet space.

Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan have been announced as headliners beginning in November at the property’s 5,000-seat theater, managed by AEG Presents.

Singapore-based Zouk Group will feature DJs including Zedd and Tiësto at the 2,000-capacity Zouk Nightclub and the outdoor AYU Dayclub.
