The eighth annual Las Vegas Top Tech Exec Awards, a collaboration between Cox Business and VEGAS INC, recognize Southern Nevadans who are helping shape the future. Honorees are the people who are often on call 24-7 and asked to solve problems that may never have happened before in a rapidly evolving industry. The nominations were reviewed by a panel of judges who assessed the candidates’ accomplishments, technology partnerships and innovations and visions of the future. The winners were chosen among 10 categories, which included lifetime achievement; startup; education; hotel/ gaming; community exemplary; private business; nonprofit; healthcare; government and public business.

“On behalf of all of us at TransAct, I congratulate David for receiving this prestigious award,” said Tracey Chernay, Senior Vice President of Global Casino, Gaming and Lottery at TransAct. “David has played an instrumental role in developing our software center of excellence. Through his hard work, he has helped double the size of our software department in Southern Nevada and has implemented processes, procedures and state of the art tools to keep us abreast of technology trends and allow us to grow. We couldn’t be more proud to have him on our team.”

Mr. Block directs all software development activities within the company. Joining Transact in 2015, Block has been involved in the computer industry since its infancy, and in the printer industry for over 25 years, working as a CTO, VP of Engineering and technology for DYMO, where he guided DYMO®’s technological directions while directing much of the product development efforts, and later as VP Product Development at Esselte, where he designed the award winning Leitz Icon printer. Throughout his career, he has been focused on user-centered design as a way of delivering products that delight the user, and thereby building brand equity. His experience on both the marketing and development sides of technology companies has allowed him to develop a strong, balanced, user-centered approach to product design.
