US – William Hill opens four Iowa sportsbooks on first day of legalised sports betting

William Hill opened and accepted wagers at four sports books across Iowa on the first day of legalised sports betting in state history. This marks the ninth state William Hill operates sports books in since establishing itself in Las Vegas in 2012.
All four William Hill Sports Books, located at Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino, Lakeside Hotel Casino, Isle Casino Hotel – Waterloo and Isle Casino Hotel – Bettendorf accepted their first sports wagers at midday on the first day.
“What a great day. I’m so proud of everyone who has worked so hard to bring sports betting to Iowa and to our four new sports books,” said Joe Asher, CEO of William Hill US. “Sports betting will bring a lot of enjoyment to local sports fans. Iowa State is a four point favorite over Iowa and the early money is on the Cyclones.”
In addition to visiting the new sports books, sports fans with Android operating systems, will be able to place wagers using William Hill’s official mobile sports betting app. The app allows anyone who downloads it to bet on sporting events as long as they are located within the state of Iowa when they place a bet. Bettors can choose between a variety of wagers both in advance of games and in play, for sports including baseball, basketball, fighting, football, golf, hockey, soccer, tennis, and more.
