Clark County Commission confirms that the entitlement package would pass over to the new owner

An unnamed suitor has expressed interest in buying Bally’s planned $1.1bn A’s Vegas baseball park project, being built on the site of the former Tropicana.

Bally’s Corp. has already said that if the deal doesn’t materialise, it is ready to move forward with Phase 1 of its mixed-use project, with the company expressing confidence in its funding partners.

Clark County Commission has already said that if the Athletics ballpark were sold to another company, an entitlement package that the commission has now approved would pass over to the new owner.

Clark County Commission approved a series of land-use licences for the development of a mixed-use podium and a 2,500-seat theatre. Licences for the hotel and casino portions of the project will be considered by the commission on September 16.

Clark County spokeswoman Jennifer Cooper said: “The Board has considered for approval the portion of Bally’s application that includes the parking and podium development to ensure the public has a safe way to get from the public sidewalks and pedestrian bridges into the stadium.”

“The towers associated with the Bally’s application have not received FAA approval and were not considered for approval today. For context, entitlements are associated with the land, not the developer, so should Bally’s not move forward with the project, another developer would be able to use their entitlements.”

The first phase of the project will see the construction of the ballpark a 1,500-space parking garage and a central utility plant.

The second phase has been updated to include the multi-level podium, a three-level parking garage, and retail, entertainment and dining facilities. The podium now includes a 2,500-seat theatre.

The construction of the casino resort will come in the third quarter.
