Booming Games: our industry rewards creativity and ambition

With countless slot studios creating content for operators to stock in their lobbies, the space in which these studios operate is incredibly fierce, and the opportunities to stand out and secure integrations with the biggest brands are limited.

So, what is it like to run a slot studio? Is innovation a priority? How do studios differentiate? And how can you grow the business beyond just adding games to the portfolio? Moritz Blume, Director of Product at Booming Games, shares his thoughts with G3.

What is the ultimate goal for Booming Games?

To entertain our players with every single game we produce. The way each studio goes about doing this is different, but the ultimate goal remains the same. Of course, we have to do this in a way that is profitable for our operator partners and for ourselves, but if we create games that are fun, exciting and deliver the experiences players are seeking, that takes care of itself.

This is an industry where creativity and ambition are rewarded. As a studio, it’s our job to push the boundaries and produce games that are exciting and thrilling to play, putting players on the edge of their seats from the very first spin.

In their quest to bring new player experiences to the market, have some studios lost sight of producing content that players want to play?

If slot developers want to survive in this saturated industry, they can’t lose their grip and have to stay innovative and focused. This approach has resulted in some great mechanics and features. Still, there are instances where studios have innovated for the sake of innovation and not to enhance the player experience first and foremost.

At Booming Games, we focus on creativity and bringing high-end slots to the market that players want to play and come back to. This has allowed us to build a portfolio of content that covers a wide range of themes with thrilling bonuses and a sliding scale of volatility – in short. The slot provision space is fiercely competitive. What have you done to ensure that Booming Games stands out from its rivals?

We put quality and entertainment above everything else. All aspects of the game must come together to deliver the experience the player is seeking. Our themes are another area where we stand out – the team is super creative and comes up with amazing theme ideas in all directions.

We have also been able to leverage the experience of the team to develop games at pace – our portfolio now stands at over 100 titles, with 12 added in the past six months alone. This means we can offer our partners plenty of variety without compromising on quality. This has enabled us to expand our reach into new markets and to help our partners truly localise their game lobbies.

One of the biggest challenges operators can face is integrating games for the huge number of suppliers they work with. How can this challenge be overcome?

This is why content aggregators are popular among operators, but as a studio, we also want to be able to offer direct integrations. We’ve invested heavily in a modern, agile platform that provides scalability when it comes to integrations, as well as developing features, mechanics, and tools.

We also have a dedicated team that ensures integration into partner game lobbies is smooth and seamless. This, combined with the quality of our slots and the demand for our titles among players, has seen many casino brands give our games top positioning.

As a studio, what do you need to focus on to ensure you continue to grow your business across all areas and not just the number of games in your portfolio?

We must keep the focus on all areas of the business. For example, we have really improved our risk management in recent months, and this was achieved by ensuring that a game is fully ready and certified for all markets where we supply our content. This, in turn, has allowed us to carry out exclusive launches and run very attractive promotional campaigns with a selection of our operator partners.

We also listen to our customers and work hard to bring the tools and features they need to overcome the challenges they are facing. Player engagement has become increasingly difficult for online casinos, so to address this, we have developed gamification and retention tools, including free spins, drops, challenges, and tournaments that operators can use across our games.

These tools have proved to be hugely effective when it comes to boosting game performance and increasing the number of active players, game rounds, and bet size. They are fully customisable so that operators can set the prize pool, games, and even the durations.

This is a good example of how helping our operators drive growth ensures that Booming Games continues to grow at the same time.
