New venue includes slots from Zitro and IGT as well as video games, billiards, foosball, air hockey, and darts

An iconic landmark on the Swiss Riviera, the Casino Barrière Montreux is opening a new chapter in its history in 2026. Located in the canton of Vaud, the establishment is driven by a clear ambition: to offer ‘a new entertainment experience, accessible to the widest possible audience, ever more comprehensive, festive, and surprising.’

This strategy is reflected in the creation of a new customer journey, but also comes in response to the 14.3 per cent decline in gross gaming revenue (GGR) that affected the casino nestled between the lake and the mountains.

Upon entering the casino, a new entertainment area, named Lucky Arena, has been unveiled. This unique concept blends arcade games, dining, and entertainment, along with “major new partnerships in the culinary and events sectors.” Designed as an intergenerational, fun, and community-oriented space, Lucky Arena enhances and complements the entertainment offerings of Casino Barrière Montreux. This entertainment hub features an arcade area with video games, billiards, foosball, air hockey, and darts; the Lucky Café, offering all-you-can-eat options; and a packed program of events including tournaments, raffles, and karaoke nights.

At Lucky Café, the experience extends beyond the plate; customers are invited to have fun and try their luck with a variety of playful activities. Among the must-tries is the “Fork & Darts” menu: by combining a meal with a game of darts, simply aim for the target to try and win your bill. Another popular game is dice rolling, which also offers the chance to win a free meal. Finally, the “Winning Chair” game holds some great surprises, with discounts up for grabs.

In parallel, the Casino Barrière Montreux has launched an ambitious partnership with Montreux Republic, a renowned local player in the hospitality and gastronomy sectors, which will now support the casino in three distinct areas. Firstly, this partnership is characterised by the opening of the Riviera Café, in the former Fouquet’s location. This contemporary, elegant, convivial, and festive restaurant-bar, inspired by New York’s neo-brasserie style, features live music and a menu perfectly in tune with this new promise. Musical entertainment will be offered every evening, both weekdays and weekends. Secondly, the partnership includes the outdoor pool on the shores of Lake Geneva, an iconic location beloved by locals and visitors alike. This pool will host pool parties and will be one of the most popular spots during the Montreux Jazz Festival. Finally, the lakeside guinguette (open-air café) completes this new dynamic, offering a third outdoor space, ideal for enjoying the summer.

To celebrate these new additions, the casino, which houses 250 slot machines, 47 electronic table games, and 16 traditional gaming tables, has enhanced its entertainment offerings by introducing several new features. Six Zitro slot machines with the Legendary Sword theme have been installed. They are complemented by three IGT Prosperity Link cabinets.

“With the Lucky Arena, we want to evolve the casino experience into an even more comprehensive, accessible, vibrant, and surprising entertainment experience. It’s a place designed for pleasure and excitement: people come to have a good time, enjoy themselves, share experiences, be surprised… and leave with wonderful memories. A unique experience on the Riviera, where the motto is simple: fun, entertainment, and an experience that is constantly evolving,” said Jérôme Colin, General Manager of Casino Barrière Montreux.

According to Journal des Casinos, the Swiss casino achieved a gross gaming revenue (GGR) of CHF 47.03m in 2024. This performance places it fifth out of 21 local casinos. Regarding its online activity, the Vaud-based establishment recorded a GGR of CHF7.25m, ranking it ninth out of 10 in this category.
