Colombia – Coljuegos confirms that live dealer approved in Colombia

By - 30 April 2020

Juan B. Pérez Hidalgo, the President of Coljuegos, has announced that the regulatory body has approved live casino into the offering allowed for online gaming operators in Colombia.

Speaking at the SBC Digital Summit, he said: “Today we have approved the live casino services,” he said. “Technical requirements for both platform and game integration have been settled, in which have followed international quality standards.

“A mandatory confinement will help to link online gambling with an audience that was unaware of this vertical,” he added.

Evert Montero Cárdenas, President of Fecoljuegos, Colombia’s gambling trade association, added: “This is good news and just what the market needs. Now the challenge is that we manage to integrate the operators located in the live casino, who can offer their terminals and services since they are in very difficult conditions due to the health crisis.”

Julio César Tamayo, CEO of Colombian operator Wplay, added: “This is very good news, especially considering that the Colombian sports minister does not predict that it will open the soccer league in the short term. In the midst of this crisis, we should be grateful for having two leaders like the Presidents of Coljuegos and Fecoljuegos, who have supported the industry at this time. It is very interesting to see all the initiatives that have been implemented, such as the new rule that includes official relief, through a discount on the fixed fees that we pay over the months of March, April and May. The effect that this crisis has generated is that the bets in the online casino have increased, obviously with the drop in the number of users that we have had, but we are very expectant.”
