Jamie Rosen, Co-Founder of Fruity Slots, charts the journey from two industry insiders sharing opinions to a community-driven affiliate brand shaped and scrutinised by its audience.

Can you start by introducing yourself and telling us a little about Fruity Slots’ journey so far?

My name is Jamie Rosen, and I’m the co-founder of Fruity Slots. Alongside Josh Green, I founded the company back in 2014. After years of working in the iGaming industry, we decided to go it alone and create our own affiliate site to share our honest takes on online slots.

This quickly evolved, and in 2017, we launched our YouTube channel, which has since become a huge success.

What we quickly discovered is that players had a real appetite for authentic, honest gaming reviews. We wanted to create a channel that highlighted our honest experiences playing online, whether good or bad.

Those shared moments resonated with players, and we have continued to grow from strength to strength over the last few years.

The affiliate industry is one of the most competitive sectors in iGaming. How has Fruity Slots differentiated itself, and what is the key to longevity?

Authenticity. First and foremost, we are players ourselves. When we shifted into the affiliate space, we committed 100 per cent to editorial independence. We did not just want to mass-produce content and churn out the same reviews you can find anywhere.

This, in turn, has helped us build trust with our readers and viewers. They come to us because they trust the brands and games we recommend. They know that we are not going to recommend to them something that we would not play or sign up for ourselves, and that trust goes a long way in our industry.

We are also deeply committed to promoting responsible gambling. We only work alongside licensed brands and do our utmost to protect our audience from harm. Again, this is where our experience as players comes into play. We want people to be able to have a good time and enjoy online gambling just like we do, and we are well aware of some of the problems people might encounter.

You and your team are very publicly visible as the faces of Fruity Slots. How important is that personal brand to building trust with your audience?

It’s been absolutely essential to our success. Recommendations are all the more powerful when they come from a real person, and not just an anonymous website review. We put our reputation on the line every time we recommend a slot or a casino, and people respect that.

At the end of the day, if I recommend a casino or a slot to someone and they have a bad experience or feel like they have been scammed, they can call me out directly. Whether this is in the comment section of my streams, on the website’s forum, or just on social media.

We want there to be faces to our brand, and while that brings a certain amount of pressure, it also builds the kind of trust that you cannot manufacture.

What role has your community played in building Fruity Slots into what it is today?

Community has become a real buzzword in iGaming over the last few years, but it is much more to us than that. It was our community that built us and has enabled us to build the platform we have; without them, we would have nothing.

Our community holds us accountable, and we know that if we do not adhere to the high standards we have set for ourselves, our community will call us out.

Of course, it also serves other purposes and has become a big selling point for us. One of the biggest is our forum. This gives players the opportunity to share their experiences and to discuss upcoming releases and industry news. Not only does it allow people to build connections with one another, but it also creates a sense of trust.

We also have regular leaderboard-style contests and giveaways, both of which are incredibly popular with our players.

The affiliate industry is feeling a lot of pressure at the moment. How are you adapting?

There’s a lot of talk right now about the future of the affiliate space, and while there are certainly some huge factors applying pressure, there is also a lot of opportunity.

For many businesses, this pressure is coming from multiple angles: UK regulatory changes and tax increases are impacting partners, and the rise of AI-generated content is drowning out some of the market.

To adapt, you need to be able to use your best assets, and one of our best is our credibility. We play with real money and pride ourselves on being transparent with our audiences. In turn, this editorial quality and industry experience deliver higher-value players to our operating partners.

We have built our business around quality assurance and long-term partnerships. This strategy has always served us well, and in the age of AI, I firmly believe it will be our greatest strength. Trust and reliability are going to be valuable currencies in this new technological area, and thankfully, we have plenty of that in the bank.

What do the next few years look like for Fruity Slots?

With so much change underway, there is no doubt that the affiliate space will look very different in the next 12 months.

We are going to see a period of consolidation that will take affiliate sites out of the market. With Google’s changes and the rise of AI, competition for visibility has increased, and we are committed to maintaining our position as one of the UK and Ireland’s most trusted affiliate brands.

Our community is continuing to grow, and we are proud to keep doing what we love: playing slots and reviewing slot games. We are giving our website an update to make it even more user-friendly for our audience, and we are also launching an exciting new rating system, which we can not wait to introduce to our readers.
