UK-based studio debuts evolved, bolder sequel to its breakout debut with new Stackways Booster symbol and 10,000x max win
Kitsune Studios has announced The Library Overdue, its latest slot release and a direct sequel to the studio’s breakout 2025 release, The Library.
Launching August 19 across Hacksaw Gaming’s OpenRGS network, the new title returns players to the shelves that started it all – only this time, the library has changed with a horror-tinged evolution.
Built on a 5×4 grid with win ways, The Library Overdue is powered by Hacksaw’s signature Stackways mechanic. Landing Stackways symbols fills a reel with a stack of paying symbols, building up to a maximum of 20 Stackways per reel during the bonus round.
For the sequel, Kitsune is introducing its own Stackways Booster symbol that pushes the ceiling further, adding up to ten extra Stackways symbols per reel during the bonus rounds. These two free spins bonuses – Stack the Shelves Spins and the upgraded Overdue Spins – also give players the chance to land a top prize of 10,000x the bet.
Rated very high volatility, the game offers a full suite of bonus-buy and FeatureSpins options where permitted, and ships with support for more than 20 languages and 80 currencies.
The Library Overdue arrives as Kitsune approaches its second birthday, underlining how far the studio has travelled since The Library first opened its doors. Growing from a single debut title into a multi-game studio and a flagship partner on Hacksaw Gaming’s OpenRGS platform, the provider’s catalogue is now being distributed across regulated markets worldwide.
Phillip Douglas, CEO & Founder at Kitsune Studios, said: “The Library is where this studio started, so coming back to it two years on means a massive deal to us.”
“We wanted The Library Overdue to be a true showcase of just how much we’ve grown. It’s darker, bigger and more ambitious, but still unmistakably Kitsune. It’s both a love letter to the players who were there at the beginning, and a statement of where we’re heading next.”
