Pennsylvania gambling hits new heights in March

Gambling revenue reached a record high in Pennsylvania with the Gaming Control Board reporting that the sector as a whole generated $554.6m in March, marking a year-on-year increase of 7.6 per cent.

March was the second time in three months that Pennsylvania set a new record, following the $534.2m generated in December 2023.

Slots in land-based casinos were up 1.1 per cent to $227.9m to $34.3m in slot revenue. The biggest land-based earner was Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantsville, which generated $88.2m, marking an increase of 8.9 per cent. In Second place was Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia with GGR of $88m, up 28.4 per cent. Parx Casino in Philadelphia came in third place with $59.5m although its revenues fell 1.5 per cent over the year.

Online gaming increased by 29 per cent, accounting for $191.1m of the total with online slot revenue coming in at $135.5m, an increase of 29.3 per cent, and online table gaming increased by 31.2 per cent to hit $53.1m.

Hollywood Casino generated the most in online gaming with $72.3m, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort and Rivers Casino Philadelphia.

Valley Forge Casino Resort led the sports betting sector with srevenue of $24.3m.
