Okada Manila turns off exterior lighting for Earth Hour

By - 25 March 2024

Philippine casino resort Okada Manila, heralded as Asia’s most spectacular gaming and entertainment destination, participated in the Biggest Hour for Earth, aligning with millions globally for a critical cause; protecting the Earth.

On March 23, Okada Manila powered down its exterior lighting and the iconic Fountain to observe Earth Hour from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. The hotel also dimmed its lights in its Coral and Pearl lobbies, wellness centers (The Retreat Spa and The Sole Retreat), and other areas within the integrated resort.

The resort’s restaurant and hotel guests were offered complimentary beverages in dining outlets and on the gaming floors, while Medley Buffet featured a vegan station and Earth Hour-themed pastries.

Okada Manila’s President and Chief Operating Officer, Byron Yip, said: “By turning off our facilities and amenities for just an hour, we conserve energy and save a significant amount of electricity in our operations. These small, yet impactful, actions demonstrate our commitment to sparking positive environmental change.”

“We each have a role in fostering change and must act together,” he added. “As a Forbes 5-Star-rated property and a premier integrated resort in the Philippines, Okada Manila stands united with the global community in advocating for the preservation of Earth. We aim to establish exemplary standards for society, not only for today’s betterment, but also for the benefit of future generations.”

Earth Hour symbolizes a united front that brings people together, highlighting the urgent need to address nature loss and the climate crisis. It motivates millions to take action and advocate for significant changes. Each year, the initiative strives to transform a single hour of solidarity into countless hours of environmental advocacy and action.
