South Korea – Landing International confident of getting stolen money back from Jeju theft

Landing International is hopeful that it will get back the KRW13.4bn (US$11.8m) stolen from its Jeju Shinhwa World casino in South Korea.

The money, which was taken by a casino employee from a safe at Landing Casino, within its Jeju Shinhwa World, has been seized by police with several arrests being made.

The company said: “To the best knowledge of the Board, and based upon the recent Investigation Progress Notification issued by Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Police Agency of Korea to the Group, the Jeju Police revealed that they have identified certain suspected accomplices; arrest warrants for those suspected accomplices were issued by the Korean court and the wanted actions were also filed with and commenced by the International Criminal Police Organization; three suspected accomplices were arrested so far; and approximately KRW 13.4bn (HK$95.5m) was seized by the Jeju Police in accordance with the due process of Korean law, and are being kept in the deposit account of a bank under the name of Jeju Police, and the Seized Money is expected to be part of the amount of the Group missed as a result of the Incident. The investigation of Jeju Police is still on-going, and it is anticipated that the Seize Money will be returned to the Group after the relevant investigation and/or legal procedures are completed.”
