Golden Palace group joins the list of operators competing for Viage in Brussels
Current owner Casinos Austria International, is also applying to renew its own license
The Golden Palace group has officially announced its bid to take over the concession for Brussels’ Viage casino, whose tender was launched by the Belgian capital in May.
The casino operator aims to transform the current Viage casino into a large complex, confirmed Massimo Menegalli, the CEO of the Belgian operator.
He said that the group’s ambition goes beyond simply running a casino and that they want to create “a true entertainment hub, in the heart of the pedestrian zone, bringing together gaming, culture, gastronomy, events, and tourism.”
According to Journal des Casinos, the casino group, which will operate four casinos in France starting at the end of 2026, plans to invest 30m in developing what could become its first Belgian casino. The concession, which expires on December 31, would also come with a license.
Viage, a subsidiary of Casinos Austria International, is also applying to renew its own license. Star Casino, based in Chaudfontaine, and Napoleon Games, operator of the Knokke-le-Zoute casino, have also confirmed their interest in this 15-year concession. The Ardent group, parent company of Circus Casino and Gaming1, which runs gaming establishments in Spa and Namur, along with the nine venues operated by its subsidiary Circus Casino France, is said to have applied. Infiniti, operator of two casinos in Belgium and two in France, has reportedly also submitted an application.
With a gross gaming revenue (GGR) of 52.45m in 2023, the last year accounted for by the Gambling Commission, the Viage casino ranked first among the nine Belgian gaming establishments. This amount represents 37.48 per cent of the country’s GGR.
