Entertainment group to strengthen its Nordic footprint in new market

SkillOnNet has secured a Finnish gambling licence, positioning the global entertainment group to enter the country’s newly regulated online casino market when it opens on July 1, 2027.

SkillOnNet, the company behind internationally recognised online casinos including PlayOJO, has extensive experience operating across regulated jurisdictions and is committed to delivering entertaining, secure, and responsible online gaming experiences.

The licence, granted by Finland’s National Police Board, represents another important milestone in the group’s tireless expansion into regulated markets around the world.

Finland is preparing for one of the most significant changes to its gambling industry in decades, as the country moves away from the long-standing monopoly held by state-owned operator Veikkaus and introduces a competitive licensing system for online casino gaming and sports betting.

Under the new framework, approved private operators will be permitted to offer online gambling services to Finnish players for the first time, subject to strict regulatory requirements.

The licencing process has generated considerable interest from international operators, with Finland’s National Police Board receiving 75 applications by late September 2026.

SkillOnNet’s successful application reinforces its commitment to regulated growth and provides a platform for the company’s next phase of expansion in the Nordic region.

Maor Nutkevitch, Head of Corporate Development at SkillOnNet, said: “Finland represents a fantastic opportunity, with a strong digital culture and a clear commitment to creating a safe, competitive, and sustainable online gaming environment.

“We’re delighted to be among the early operators to receive approval, and we look forward to bringing our experience, innovative gaming products, and player-first approach to Finnish customers when the market opens next July.”
