Genting Casino Resorts World Birmingham gets a striking new digital centrepiece

Hospitality and entertainment AV integrator TVC Technology Solutions has completed a major large-format LED installation for Genting Casino at Resorts World Birmingham, creating an impressive new digital focal point above the venue’s main bar.

The brief called for a solution capable of displaying live television, sport, entertainment, promotional material and branded content clearly and reliably on a huge scale. It also needed to provide flexible distribution of multiple video sources, picture-in-picture functionality and intuitive control for Genting employees, together with a bespoke mounting structure engineered specifically around the size and complex configuration of the space.

At the heart of the installation is a Hisense XIHFE Series COB LED display, measuring 7.8 metres wide by 3.38 metres high and providing a total screen area of more than 26m², equivalent to a huge 335in TV screen.

With a fine 1.56mm pixel pitch and a resolution of 4,992 x 2,160, the display delivers more than 10.7 million individual pixels across the large-format canvas. This allows live broadcasts, sporting events, promotional graphics and branded content to be presented with exceptional clarity across the full width of the venue.

The complete display comprises 130 die-cast aluminium cabinets, arranged in a 13-by-10 configuration to create a precise and consistent finish. The modular construction also provides practical servicing benefits, allowing individual areas of the display to be accessed if required.

Supporting the huge LED canvas is a bespoke B-Tech mounting system, engineered to securely support the 26m² display across its full 7.8-metre width. Bespoke surround panels were also incorporated around the perimeter to provide a clean, integrated finish that complements the surrounding interior.

COB LED technology provides a durable and uniform display surface ideally suited to the demands of a busy public-facing entertainment venue, while the 3.84kHz refresh rate ensures smooth reproduction of fast-moving content. Driving the high-resolution LED canvas is a NovaStar VX2000 Pro controller, providing the processing power to manage the display while supporting advanced layouts, scaling and picture-in-picture functionality.

To give Genting Casino greater flexibility over the content shown on the LED wall, TVC also incorporated four WyreStorm NHD-400-TX NetworkHD encoders into the system.

The encoders convert HDMI sources into low-latency IP video streams, allowing content to be routed through the venue’s network infrastructure and delivered to the LED processor. This gives Genting employees the flexibility to switch between different sources according to the requirements of the venue, from live sport and television broadcasts to entertainment, advertising and branded promotional material.

Andy Greaves, Divisional Sales Director at TVC Technology Solutions, comments: “At more than 26 square metres, this display has enormous visual presence, so the challenge was to deliver the wow factor Genting wanted while making the technology behind it straightforward and flexible for the team to use every day. The combination of fine-pitch COB LED, powerful video processing and AV-over-IP distribution means they can make full use of that huge canvas, whether it’s showing a major sporting event, entertainment or promotional content. It’s a great example of how large-format LED can become an integral part of the customer experience rather than simply being a very big screen.”

The completed installation provides Genting Casino Resorts World Birmingham with a striking new digital focal point above the main bar, while giving employees a flexible platform for displaying live broadcasts, sport, entertainment and promotional content.

By bringing together Hisense COB LED technology, NovaStar processing, WyreStorm AV-over-IP distribution and a bespoke B-Tech mounting solution, TVC has delivered an integrated large-format display designed to combine visual impact with the flexibility and reliability required within a busy entertainment environment.

The project adds another high-profile hospitality and entertainment installation to TVC’s growing portfolio, demonstrating its ability to deliver complex LED and AV solutions tailored to the demands of large-scale commercial venues.
