Five of the casinos have yet to reach pre-pandemic levels
Atlantic City’s nine casinos generated revenues of $235.5m from in-person gamblers in April, marking a healthy increase of 12 per cent from a year earlier. The month marked the city’s best April since 2012, however, five of the casinos have yet to reach pre-pandemic levels.
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, Ocean Casino Resort, and Resorts Casino Hotel have all managed to surpass the revenues generated before the pandemic.
Borgata remains the clear leader in the land-based market, generating $67m from its gaming floor, an increase of 14.5 per cent from a year earlier. Hard Rock remained in second place, bringing in $45.3m, an increase of 9.1 per cent, with Ocean Casino Resort generating $36.5m, an increase of 19.5 per cent.
The biggest mover in the month was Caesars Atlantic City, which generated an increase of 31.9 per cent to $19.3m. Out of the nine casinos, Golden Nugget Atlantic City was the only one to generate a downturn in April, with revenue dropping by three per cent to $10.7m.
April saw slots generate $169.3m in revenue, with table games bringing in $66.2m.
James Plousis, chair of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, said: “New Jersey’s total gaming revenue achieved its highest April figure in over a decade, with double-digit growth in all three segments. Internet gaming win continued its strong performance in 2026, recording its third-best monthly result on record, eclipsing in-person casino win for eight consecutive months, and surpassed $1 billion faster than all prior years
“Each casino hotel reported growth in either slot machine win or table game win, with five operators reporting growth in both categories,” he added. “Year-to-date, casino win is on its best pace in 14 years due to a double-digit increase in table game win and a modest increase in slot machine win.”
Overall, New Jersey’s gambling sector saw a 12 per cent improvement in April, with iGaming improving by the same rate as its land-based counterparts and the sector as a whole. Internet gambling revenue reached $263.1m, marking the eighth consecutive month that it outplayed the land-based sector.
Jane Bokunewicz, director of Stockton University’s Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism, said: “Atlantic City’s casino operators and their partners saw strong gross gaming revenue returns in April 2026, realising a greater than 11 per cent increase year-over-year for both brick-and-mortar AND online revenue streams. While internet gaming continued to exceed traditional casino operations for total revenue share, slots, table and other games put up their strongest April revenue numbers since 2022
“Amid persistent headwinds, including the recent opening of live table games at Resorts World New York City, it will be interesting to see if Atlantic City’s gaming industry will be able to carry this growth into the summer tourism season,” she added.
“With visitors returning to take advantage of the city’s many amenities, the second annual Soar & Shore airshow later this month, and the resort’s potential as a destination for those enjoying the FIFA World Cup festivities, there certainly will be a lot to look forward to this summer and reasons to hope that the season’s challenges will be balanced by opportunities.”
On the iGaming side, FanDuel, in partnership with Golden Nugget, was the market leader with $58.8m in revenue, an increase of 11.4 per cent from a year earlier.
In online sports betting, FanDuel and Meadowlands Racetrack led the online sports betting market with revenue of $39.7m, giving an increase of 25 per cent.
