Booming Games will be investing heavily in its presence and operator partnerships in South Africa

Booming Games, a leading provider of premium gaming content, is celebrating its two-year anniversary in South Africa with a bold ambition to be recognised as the market’s leading games provider in the next 1-2 years.

As one of the fastest growing markets in Africa and around the world, with estimates suggesting the South African online casino gaming market will grow at almost 10% year on year from now until 2030*, Booming Games arrived in South Africa two years ago this month with the country central to its global growth strategy.

From starting out with one partner relationship in July 2024, Booming Games now works with a host of tier one operators across Africa, building longstanding business relationships. Alongside this, the team has doubled in size, with plans to bolster headcount further in the coming months. Industry recognition of these achievements is growing, with Booming Games shortlisted at both the SiGMA Africa Awards and iGA Summit Awards earlier this year.

With over 145 titles tested, approved and live in the Mpumalanga, Western Cape and Eastern Cape provinces, Booming Games’ presence in the market has been a story of rapid growth.

Last month, Booming Games announced a strategic partnership with World Sports Betting (WSB), one of South Africa’s most established operators. The agreement will see a selection of Booming Games’ premium titles integrated into WSB’s platform, making them available to its extensive and loyal player base across South Africa.

Booming Games is widely recognised as a top supplier, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers and operators informing game development. According to Solomon Godwin, Head of Africa at Booming Games: “Close partnerships with operators is central to our ability to innovate and deliver at speed. These collaborations allow us to establish a comprehensive feedback loop that informs future games. Put simply, we listen to our punters through our partners.”

Localisation of games is a key part of Booming Games’ growth strategy in South Africa. To tailor games to local dynamics, Booming Games is building a team with unrivalled market expertise. The team has adopted a customer focused approach to game development, combining proven mechanics with themes that resonate with players.

Alongside a localised approach to game development, Booming Games has a firm commitment to entertainment, ensuring that each customer feels an affiliation with games, and finding ways to connect with end players direct as well as through its operator partners.

Durban July, the biggest event in the South Africa horse racing calendar, is one example of this. The event is a cultural celebration, with Booming Games’s stand, and wider presence, featuring prominently for the second year in a row. Attendees this year had the opportunity to try out the latest games, win exclusive prizes and experience world-class gaming first-hand.

Booming Games has set out a clear ambition: to build a presence in every remaining province in South Africa, and become the top provider in South Africa in the next two years.

To achieve this, Booming Games is set to investing heavily in growing its presence and number of operator partnerships. With an influx of aggregators entering South Africa, Booming Games is actively targeting every new aggregator platform to further boost its presence and visibility.

Booming Games will also continue adding new titles regularly, offering a mix of well-known classics and innovative games. In addition to its slots offering, Booming Games is also developing new titles across both crash games and instant games. Existing games will also be updated to enhance player experience, such as adding new levels or extra spins.

Max Niehusen, Founder of Booming Games, says: “South Africa is a land of opportunity for innovative, entertaining gaming. The most mature and dynamic market on the continent, it is quite rightly a core pillar of our global growth strategy. Its growth potential presents a clear opportunity to expand and reach new players. I was recently at Durban July and saw first-hand the energy and excitement for our approach.

“South Africa already drives the largest proportion of our revenues in Africa, and as we celebrate two successful years here, we are well placed to build out our offering even further over the years ahead.”

Solomon Godwin, Head of Africa at Booming Games, adds: “Africa as a whole is an enormous growth opportunity, but each country has its own separate culture, rules and nuances. We’ve seen operators make the mistake of coming to Africa with one single approach for the continent, and failing.

“We understand the South African gaming landscape better than anybody. We know how to build partnerships, we know what appeals to players, and our success to date is testament to our approach. Continuous improvement and innovation is in our DNA, and we can’t wait to bring more excitement to the South African gaming scene in the years to come.”
