Groupe Barrière completes takeover of Casino de Póvoa de Varzim
French operator takes control of iconic Portuguese venue
France-based operator Groupe Barrière has now completed the takeover of the Casino de Póvoa de Varzim, located in northern Portugal, right next to Porto, with the transfer of ownership taking place on May 1, 2026.
Founded in 1934, the Casino de Póvoa de Varzim, with its gaming areas, dining options, and a theater seating over 400, reflects the city’s long-standing tradition of entertainment.
