Aachen kicks-off state-wide game show tour for the 50th anniversary of casinos in North Rhine-Westphalia
With prominent guests and a spectacular game show evening, the three-day mega weekend started on at the Merkur Spielbank Aachen.
This also marked the start of a state-wide anniversary tour to mark the 50th anniversary of casinos in North Rhine-Westphalia. After the first stop in Aachen, the event format will also be held at the Merkur casinos in Bad Oeynhausen, Dortmund, Duisburg and Monheim until November. Visitors can expect a mix of live entertainment, innovative game shows and guaranteed prizes of over 100,000 euros each. The invitation to the Merkur anniversary in Aachen was accepted by TV stars Enie van de Meiklokjes, Anna-Carina Woitschack, Miloš Vuković and Ralph Morgenstern, among others. Together with guests from Aachen’s urban society, they celebrated the start of a spectacular anniversary weekend.
The official kick-off took place at 6 p.m. with the cutting of a specially made show cake. Jörg Sörries, Director of Merkur Spielbank Aachen, David Schnabel, CEO of Merkur Casinos, and Enie van de Meiklokjes opened the festival weekend together. “I love events where people experience beautiful moments together. That’s exactly what it’s all about here: fun, entertainment and celebrating something special together. That’s why I’m very happy to be part of this big anniversary today,” said Enie van de Meiklokjes. Ralph Morgenstern was also impressed by the anniversary: “What a brilliant evening with great colleagues and a very special birthday child. The casinos in North Rhine-Westphalia are turning 50, and I am also celebrating my 50th stage anniversary. Two jubilarians who together are celebrating a proud 100 years,” he said. And the two “Among Us” stars Nadine Menz and Miloš Vuković were also enthusiastic about the start of the anniversary celebration: “50 years of casinos in North Rhine-Westphalia – we can only say: Happy Birthday! We had a great evening at the mega weekend in Aachen.”
David Schnabel underlined the importance of the 50th anniversary of the casinos in North Rhine-Westphalia: “This anniversary belongs to our guests. That’s why we don’t celebrate with a classic ceremony, but with exciting game shows and special winning moments for the people who have accompanied our hotels for decades.”
At the same time, he referred to the development of modern Merkur casinos: “Today’s casino is much more than a place of play. We combine first-class service and gastronomy with an exciting range of games and live entertainment to create a holistic leisure experience. This combination of service, range of games and entertainment is unique in Germany and even in Europe and an absolutely unique selling point of our hotels.”
From 8 p.m., the first big highlight of the weekend followed with the Big Casino Gameshow. Anna-Carina Woitschack and Evgeny Vinokurov, who had come to Aachen as the reigning winning couple of the RTL hit show Let’s Dance, provided additional enthusiasm. With a spontaneous Discofox contest, they transformed the casino into a dance hall and swept the audience away.
“I would not have thought that there would be such an energetic show atmosphere in a casino,” the singer summed up after her stage performance.
The emotional highlight of the evening was the finale of the Big Casino Gameshow. To the cheers of the guests, one lucky participant was able to enjoy the main prize of 10,000 euros, which was celebrated on stage in a shower of confetti.
The anniversary weekend in Aachen will go into the next round on Friday evening. With Lilo von Kiesenwetters Bingo Banger, visitors can expect another highlight. Germany’s best-known seer presents a shrill mixture of bingo show, party and live entertainment, where each bingo is awarded up to 500 euros. On Saturday, the grand finale of the mega weekend will follow. In the Play Money Rally, guests can win a total of up to nine times 1,000 euros during the day. In the evening, the spectacular conclusion of the anniversary celebrations awaits with the game show Auto-Alarm: Then a visitor is guaranteed to leave the Merkur Spielbank Aachen with a new Alfa Romeo SUV.
