In 2018 and 2019, OG Esports became the first organisation to win The International back-to-back, cementing its place in esports history.
For four years, however, OG has been absent from The International, choosing not to chase short-term success but instead embark on a complete rebuild. In a move few legacy organisations would have dared to make, OG reshaped its future by moving to Southeast Asia and fielded its first-ever all-Filipino roster.
For a team that had long been one of the defining organisations of the European Dota 2, this move was a real challenge. However, the organisation recognised what millions of fans have long known: the Philippines remains one of the world’s strongest Dota communities, and its players continue to shape the professional scene.
Earlier this season, OG Esports earned its ticket to The International 2026 after advancing through the upper bracket of the Southeast Asian Qualifiers. In the qualification match, the team defeated Grind Back 3–1, securing its place among the world’s elite.
That qualification was more than just a place at The International. It validated OG’s bold decision to build around an all-Filipino roster, proving that the organisation’s investment in Southeast Asian talent was justified. The first all-Filipino lineup in OG’s history has now earned the opportunity to represent both the Philippines and the region at The International 2026.
The tournament will be held in Shanghai, where OG claimed its second Aegis of Champions in 2019 and cemented its place among Dota 2’s greatest organizations. Years later, OG returns to the same city with a new roster, a new region, and a new identity, carrying forward the same competitive legacy while writing an entirely different chapter.
