Las Vegas Sands awards US$8bn Singapore resort build to Woh Hup
Las Vegas Sands has appointed Singapore contractor Woh Hup to deliver its next ultra-luxury integrated resort, marking a key step in the group’s $8bn expansion alongside Marina Bay Sands, with completion targeted for 2030.
Las Vegas Sands Corp. has awarded a multi-billion dollar construction contract to Singapore-based Woh Hup (Private) Limited following a competitive tender process involving several leading regional contractors.
Woh Hup was selected on the strength of its technical expertise and track record in delivering complex, large-scale developments. The company will lead construction of Las Vegas Sands’ next-generation ultra-luxury resort adjacent to Marina Bay Sands, a project scheduled for completion in mid-2030, with a potential opening in early 2031 subject to regulatory approvals.
The award marks a key milestone in the group’s US$8bn expansion in Singapore, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the market and its strategy of partnering with local firms to deliver major integrated resort developments.
The project, which broke ground in July 2025 in a ceremony attended by Las Vegas Sands co-founder Miriam Adelson and Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, will feature a 55-storey hotel tower comprising 570 suites. The development will also include approximately 200,000 square feet of meeting and convention space, a 15,000-seat arena, high-end dining, gaming facilities and additional hospitality amenities.
Patrick Dumont, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Las Vegas Sands, said the appointment supports broader economic participation within Singapore. “This appointment further reinforces our commitment to ensuring Singaporean companies continue to benefit from our long-term presence and future growth, creating opportunities across local industries and the broader economy,” Dumont said.
“This milestone marks an important step as we advance our vision for the next chapter of Las Vegas Sands.” He added that the new development reflects continued confidence in Singapore’s position as a global hub for tourism, business events and entertainment.
Construction is now progressing at pace, with up to 5,000 workers deployed on-site around the clock. The project is being designed by Safdie Architects, led by Moshe Safdie. Woh Hup, founded in 1927, has delivered several of Singapore’s landmark developments, including Gardens by the Bay and Jewel Changi Airport.
The expansion comes as Marina Bay Sands completes the final phase of its US$1.75bn reinvestment programme. The refurbishment has included a comprehensive upgrade of hotel rooms and suites across all three towers, alongside the introduction of new premium dining concepts. Further enhancements to the hotel lobby and SkyPark are scheduled in the coming months.
Dumont said the property has delivered its strongest financial performance to date, supported by sustained investment and operational execution. “With more than 12,000 team members in Singapore and growing, we’re proud to be one of the country’s largest employers,” he said. “These results reflect years of planning and our commitment to investing in best-in-class experiences for the long term.”
The new development is expected to further strengthen Singapore’s integrated resort offering, expanding capacity across hospitality, meetings, entertainment and gaming as Las Vegas Sands continues to scale its presence in the market.
