North Bay receives casino payment as host community revenue tops $6.8m

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has paid C$415,869 to the City of North Bay as its host community payment for Cascades Casino North Bay, covering the period from 1 April to 30 June.

The latest quarterly payment brings the city’s total revenue from hosting the casino to more than C$6.8m since the property opened in March 2022.

Under OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement, communities hosting gaming facilities receive a share of casino revenue to support local priorities and infrastructure projects.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli said: “Revenues from OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement allow North Bay to invest in infrastructure and provide funding for critical community services. Provincial revenues from Cascades Casino North Bay will help improve the quality of life for families across Ontario.”

North Bay City Council has allocated C$1.5m of the casino revenue towards the construction of a new twin-pad arena at the Omischl Sports Complex, which is scheduled to open next month.

A further C$200,000 has been earmarked for the medical wing at Elmwood Youth Centre, while C$3m has been committed to tackling homelessness through the proposed development of a 24/7 low-barrier shelter and connections centre offering healthcare and social support services.
