SkyCity and AJ Hackett launch new Sky Tower Thrill Ride

SkyCity Entertainment Group and AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand have announced the launch of SkyRide, a new thrill attraction at Auckland’s Sky Tower that will open to the public on 26 June.

The new experience will see participants lifted 192 metres above the city on the exterior of New Zealand’s tallest building before descending at speeds of up to 100 kilometres per hour.

SkyRide becomes the third adventure attraction at the Sky Tower, joining the existing SkyJump and SkyWalk experiences operated in partnership with AJ Hackett.

According to SkyCity, the attraction is designed to broaden the appeal of the Auckland entertainment precinct and provide visitors with another reason to visit one of New Zealand’s most recognisable landmarks.

Ivan Kljakovic, Chief Executive Officer of SkyCity Auckland, said the new attraction represented a further investment in the group’s tourism and entertainment offering.

AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand Chief Executive David Mitchell said SkyRide would deliver a new way for visitors to experience the Sky Tower and Auckland skyline.

The addition of SkyRide forms part of SkyCity’s ongoing strategy to diversify its non-gaming revenue streams through tourism, hospitality and entertainment experiences. The attraction is expected to strengthen the appeal of the Sky Tower precinct to both domestic and international visitors as tourism activity continues to recover across New Zealand.
